Notes on the Neighborhood
This planned community is found along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley near Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.  The 23,400-acre area is being built by the Howard Hughes Corporation. Land uses for the community include residential, commercial, recreational, educational, medical, religious and open space facilities. Divisions of Summerlin include Summerlin North with seven villages, Sun City Summerlin which includes age-restricted communities, Summerlin Centre with one village, Summerlin South with six villages, Siena, Red Rock Country Club, and Summerlin West with two villages. Among the many villages are those like the Gardens and the Vistas, each made of several housing developments, some of which are gated and some of which have homeowner associations. As of 2003, the population has reached 84,350 residents. 

Recreation
All the communities in Summerlin have pocket parks maintained by their respective division associations. All parks outside of gated communities are public to residents of Summerlin.  While the many parks are passive leisure parks, some of the recreational facilities include soccer fields, chess tables, water features, a swimming pool, and community centers. There are also four parks in Summerlin that are maintained by the city of Las Vegas. Each neighborhood also has a mini park and as of 2006, there are over 100 parks and nine golf courses in Summerlin. There are also three swimming pools in the community, one of which is run by Las Vegas. Many walking trails can be found exploring the community and its peaceful surroundings.
